1. Who we are
The SLIPTA Self-Assessment application ("the App") is published by ASLM Academy, the training, learning and certification arm of the African Society for Laboratory Medicine ("ASLM", "we", "us"). ASLM Academy is the data controller for the purposes of this policy in respect of any processing that occurs through the App.

2. What the App does
The App is a self-assessment aid that allows laboratory personnel to evaluate their own laboratory against the requirements of the WHO-AFRO / ASLM SLIPTA Checklist Version 3:2023. It is intended for internal readiness purposes only and does not constitute or replace an official SLIPTA audit.
3. Information the App handles
The App processes the following information, which you choose to enter:
- Your responses to checklist items (marked Yes, Partial, No, or Not Applicable);
- Any free-text comments or evidence references you type into the comment fields.
This information is stored locally on your device using your browser's local storage. It remains on your device. It is not transmitted to ASLM Academy, is not uploaded to any server, and is not accessible to us or to any third party.
4. Information the App does NOT collect
The App does not collect, request, or transmit any of the following: your name, email address, telephone number, location, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, usage analytics, or any account credentials. The App contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking technologies, and no third-party software development kits that collect data.
5. Patient and personal data — important
Because all data remains on your device, you are solely responsible for any information you choose to enter and for safeguarding your device accordingly.
6. How information is stored and retained
Your responses and comments persist on your device until you clear them within the App (using the reset function), clear your browser's site data, or uninstall the App. Any results file you choose to export is saved by you, to a location you select, and is thereafter under your control.
7. Data sharing and transfers
We do not share, disclose, or transfer your data, because we never receive it. No international data transfer occurs through the App.
8. Security
As the App stores data only on your device, the security of that data depends on the security controls of your own device (for example, screen lock, device encryption, and access controls). We recommend you apply your organisation's standard device-security measures.
9. Children
The App is intended for laboratory professionals and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly process any data relating to children.
10. Your rights
Because we do not hold any of your data, requests to access, correct, or erase data are fulfilled directly by you on your device through the App's reset function or by clearing your browser data. If you have questions about this policy or about ASLM Academy's data practices more broadly, contact us at the address in Section 1.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at this address, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be indicated by an updated effective date.
12. Governing terms
This policy is provided by ASLM Academy in connection with the App's availability on Google Play and is to be read alongside any applicable ASLM organisational policies.
